Our tour group was a mix of friends and relative ranging from 15 to 85 years old. Greg catered extremely well to all of us and we all had a fab day. Greg is very knowledgeable but also very charismatic and enjoys what he does, which is infectious. The tour is a perfect way to get to know a lot about Australia in one day, highly recommended. We did a meal upgrade to the Boiler House and all had a memorable meal which is pretty impressive!(recommended and organised by Cloud 9).

Reviewed 1st May 2023 “Must do trip if you really want to experience the Blue Mountains”

Chris picked us up from the Cruise port and after dropping our bags at the hotel we headed directly for the Blue Mountains. We enjoyed his deep knowledge of the area and engaging conversation. After a couple of days at sea, we really wanted to hike, and he was more than willing to oblige! Had a fantastic day hiking/walking in the Blue Mountains . Chris was flexible and crafted the day to avoid the crowds and really give us a lovely day. He also picked the hikes/walks to suit our abilities and allow us to enjoy the day to the fullest. At the end of the day I can say we were tired and very satisfied. Absolutely perfect day!!

My wife and I did a private blue mountains tour,Greg was our guide. He was amazing from start to finish. The tour itself was incredible but doing it with Greg behind the wheel made it even better. Very knowledgeable about the history of the land and he had a way to make you so engaged with everything he was saying. The vehicle was perfect and so was the day. Would highly recommend using Cloud 9 tours and will be surely using them again when I return to Australia.

Wonderful tour and guide! We really enjoyed this tour and the visits to different viewing points and charming villages. The guide James even introduced us to Tim Tams and got us a package to take away and eat later. He was fun and knowledgeable and offered us many tips not pertaining to our tour, but our trip and that was much appreciated. Definitely a tour that I would recommend. Thanks James!

Reviewed January 3rd 2023 “Wonderful Experience”

We thoroughly enjoyed our day trip to the Blue Mountains and felt like we maximized the opportunity with a hike in the Grand Canyon, lunch in Leura and short stops at the other key areas along the way. The service was exceptional throughout the entire process and our guide, James, shared information about the park as well as Sydney and the surrounding area, which was unexpected and extremely helpful for us.

Reviewed November 2022 “Amazing day in the Blue Mountains”

What an amazing day trip to the Blue Mountains from Sydney. From the minute Greg picked us up at our hotel, I knew we were going to have a great time. Greg was outgoing, fun, and full of information and cool stories and myths. We visited a few mountain towns, had a nice 1-2 hour hike and hit some amazing viewpoints, all of which were brilliantly away from the big tour buses. I would definitely recommend the tour and Cloud 9 to family and friend. I wish we would have booked the Hunter Valley trip as well for the next day too.

Reviewed February 2020 “We had a wonderful trip down under at the Blue Mountains”

This is Nikhilesh from India. I work with Cisco and was in Sydney earlier this week for a tour and we went to the blue mountains on Monday with Greg . He's a wonderful guy! He gave us a lot of information about Australia, very friendly and helpful. I think the best part about the guide is when he becomes more of a friend than a guide, the experience is elevated. That's just what happened with us. Now, I do know that the Australian tourism is going through a bit of a downturn due to the bush fires etc, but I'm sure with amazing people like this, it'll bounce back soon. Greg is passionate about what he does and you should really have him around as much as possible so that more tourists like me benefit from such lovely people. He trekked with us all the way down to Jamison valley. A guy doing that impromptu to give the visitors a unforgettable experience is really something! It was well worth it.

I intend to come back to Australia soon with my wife and I will definitely get back in touch with you for planning my holidays down under. Thanks for having such great tour guides as a part of your platoon.

Reviewed April 2019 “Brilliant tour company for private tours from Sydney”

We booked a private tour to the Blue Mountains from Sydney.
We wanted a private tour because we wished to tailor the tour to our needs.
Our family consists of two adults and two teenage boys, both of who are really into photography, bush walking and nature.
We booked the tour through James at Cloud 9 Tours, his communication was brilliant and he helped plan our trip to the Blue Mountains ahead of time which meant we were all organised and our guide had a good idea of what we wanted to see and do.
Our guides name was Greg he was fantastic so knowledgable, fun and made our day a special one to remember.
We all had the best day and we feel that he really showed us all the best parts of the Blue Mountains, we especially enjoyed the walk the falls it was so beautiful.

We were really happy with our options for lunch and loved the Old bank pub for lunch in Katoomba.
Scenic world was great and timed well, so that we missed the majority of the crowds.

We really had a brilliant day and we all got to take lots of beautiful photos.
We would definitely use Cloud 9 Tours again.

Reviewed 1st January 2019 “Perfect day out to the Blue Mountains ”

Rebecca was great about answering my emails as we were setting up our trip. James was the perfect guide. He was waiting for us when we got off the ship and took us to the Blue Mountains. He tailored our day to our needs perfectly. We wanted to stay away from the tourist areas and crowds. He took us to several lookouts where we were the only ones there. We wanted to see some Kangaroos in the wild so he took us back into an out of the way area and we saw about a dozen there. He was very knowledgeable about the birds and wildlife and helped me add a number of birds to my life list. We had a great day out with James and recommend him highly.

Blue Mountains Private Tour Frequently Asked Questions

Why should I take a  tour of Blue Mountains when I am in Sydney?

Very few cities in the world have an amazing world heritage listed wilderness area on its doorstep like Sydney does with the Blue Mountains. Being only 90 minutes from the central business district (downtown) it makes perfect sense to do a Blue Mountains tour from Sydney. The scenery in the Blue Mountains is truly world class. You will see jaw dropping canyons, valleys, huge vertical sandstone cliffs and a number of beautiful waterfalls which trickle over the ancient escarpment. Doing a Blue Mountains tour is also a great way to see some of Australia’s unique flora and fauna and to get an understanding of Australia outside of the big global cities like Sydney. There are many companies that operate Blue Mountains tours from Sydney, big companies running large coaches, tour companies taking groups of about 10-25 guests and companies like Cloud 9 Tours that run private Blue Mountains tours where you will only travel with the people you choose to travel with. Enjoying a private tour of the Blue Mountains with Cloud 9 Tours means that you will fit so much more into your day, be able to travel at the pace that you wish to and have the beauty of a flexible itinerary on the day.

Is Featherdale Wildlife Park worth visiting on a Blue Mountains Private Tour ?

Featherdale Wildlife Park (Zoo) is located in western Sydney just off the main motorway that Blue Mountains tour companies will take when running tours from Sydney. This makes it a perfect stop either at the start of your Blue Mountains tour from Sydney or at the end of your tour. The park is all about showcasing Australia’s huge range of native fauna and you won't find any of the typical animals not native to Australia that you would find in zoos around the world.

If you are keen to get up close to all of Australia’s most iconic animals (koalas, kangaroos, wallabies, wombats etc.) as well as a number of species you may have never heard of before then this is the for you. The vast majority of our guests absolutely love Featherdale and if you haven’t had a chance to get up close and personal with Australia’s unique wildlife we recommend a visit there on your Blue Mountains tour.  Also, we can guarantee that any children in your group will love the stop at Featherdale on their Blue Mountains tour.

What is Scenic World and should I include it in my Blue Mountains tour?

Scenic World is a major tourist attraction that the vast majority of Blue Mountains tour companies visit. It is located right in the heart of the Blue Mountains at Katoomba. Scenic World is perfectly located, overlooking the magnificent Jamieson Valley with great views of the famous Three Sisters rock formation. It's home to four attractions (Scenic Railway, Scenic Cable Way, Scenic Skyway and Scenic Walkway) all accessed from the one site.

Taking a cruise/ferry back to Sydney after your Blue Mountains Tour

If you are keen to get back to Sydney as early and easily as possible, then travelling by vehicle directly to your accommodation is the best option, particularly if you have plans for the evening. However, you have the option of returning to the city via the harbour. Board a Rivercat at Parramatta and enjoy a 45 minute cruise up the historic Parramatta River. This is a great opportunity to see Sydney from the water as you cruise back to Darling Harbour or Circular Quay. This is a good option for tourists who have accommodation close by.

How the weather can affect your Blue Mountains Tour

The weather can have an impact on any visit to the Blue Mountains. Generally the weather is great but being a mountain environment, the weather can change quickly and be hard to predict. Most guides who work in the area will tell you that they find the best time to see the area is when you have some clouds in the valley which add to the experience.
